FAQ for DAN Taekwondo School
“I’ve got a child aged 4, do you hold classes for that age? And what type of activities will they be doing?”
Yes! We hold a class on Mondays for children aged 4-6. See here for class times. At this stage of development the children are still learning and building basic muscle control. We design our classes to aid their development by creating fun warm ups, teaching basic techniques; simple kicks and punches, understanding the basics of our Tenets (Courtesy, integrity, Self-Control, Perseverance and Indomitable Spirit), and the first movements of the patterns for the grading syllabus. We try to create an engaging environment for the children that develops teamwork and boosts self-esteem.
“I haven’t exercised or done any type of physical activity in a long time. Do you have classes for beginners?”
All of our classes are designed to accommodate all types of fitness abilities. As a beginner you will start with basic fitness exercises and techniques and gradually progress to higher levels as you advance up the belt system We encourage all of our students to do the best that they can, but if you can only do a small amount then that is all we ask of you; we will help you build up and develop the strength and stamina that you want.
“What costs are involved? What type of equipment is needed?”
All of our costs are kept low to accommodate our students as we do understand that at this time money can be tight. You do have the option to pay as you go via cash/cheque or via standing order for either monthly or via terms. You do not need to buy any equipment (unless you wish to do so at a later stage). We have all the equipment that you need; kicking mitts, fully matted floor, sparring gear. All you need to buy is a licence (which includes your insurance and ability to grade and compete) and a Dobok (uniform) which we can sell to you at a discounted rate from the stores or often we have second hand products available. We also have further discounts for families or bulk orders.
